T20 World Cup 2022 Predictions
Who will win the T20 World Cup 2022 Prediction?
This section contains predictions for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. In 2022, the ICC T20 World Cup will be held for the eighth time in history. The competition was supposed to take place in 2020. However, due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the authorities were forced to postpone the competition until 2022.
The seventh edition was held in 2021. India played the role of the host nation. However, Indian fans had to witness the game from the UAE. The defending champions, Australia, will host the tournament’s next edition. Let’s peek at our experts’ T20 World Cup 2022 predictions.
T20 World Cup Predictions 2022 (Probable Winners)
Here, we’ll look at the hot favourite teams to win the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 and their prospects.
- Hot Favorite Team: Australia
- Most Balanced Squad: England
- Most Supported Side: India
- Condition Advantage (Apart from Host): New Zealand
- Unpredictable Side: Pakistan
- Team to Fear: West Indies
Which side is the Hot Favorite for the 2022 T20 WC?
Australia is the most successful cricketing nation in history. The Kangaroos have 5 ICC CWC trophies and 2 Champions Trophy titles in their trophy collection. However, they had to wait 14 years for their first T20 World Cup victory.
The men in yellow were not among the favourites in the 2021 edition; they had already failed with considerably stronger sides. However, what the creator has written cannot be changed. And the Almighty wanted them to win in the UAE.
The Australians stunned Pakistan in the semifinals with a master class from Matthew Wade and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Then, in the final, they utterly demolished the Kiwis. And now it is time for the defending champions to defend their crown in their backyard.
Even though they will have less than a year to prepare, there is no better spot to defend it. With normal conditions at home and a well-balanced group, they are easily the most likely winners in our T20 World Cup predictions for the 2022 edition.
Why is Australia the Hot Favorite Team in T20 World Cup Predictions for 2022?
They have a highly strong and experienced top-order that includes David Warner and Aaron Finch. Mitchell Marsh will be ecstatic after the final heroics.
Steve Smith is a valuable player in every format, but Glen Maxwell is the most dangerous bowler. Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade will be looking to bring back memories of the Pakistan game.
The bowling attack should consist of a three-person pace attack. The three-person pace attack of Mitch Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood should continue, and the trio can eradicate any batting order. Meanwhile, Adam Zampa should be the lone spinner in the XI regularly.
Key Players: Glenn Maxwell, David Warner, Aaron Finch, Mitch Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.
Which is the Most Balanced Side in 2022 T20 WC?
England is ranked second in our 2022 T20 World Cup predictions. They are the most equally balanced Team in the competition. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler, the English Team’s opening pair, are arguably the most destructive in T20 cricket. They can take more than 60-70 powerplay runs if the combination goes.
In the middle order, they have solid backups. Eoin Morgan and Liam Livingstone have previous experience in Australia. Moeen Ali is a good all-rounder, while Ben Stokes will be one of the Team’s most important players. They also have several world-class WK-Batters in the tank.
The English pace attack is excellent for 20-over cricket, and the addition of spearhead Jofra Archer will bolster their morale. Experienced Chris Woakes and Chris Jordan should be called up to the starting XI. At the same time, we anticipate Adil Rashid to play the lone spinning expert.
Key Players: Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Jason Roy, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, and Liam Livingstone.
Which Team will get the Biggest Cheers in T20 WC 2022?
The Indian cricket team is second to none regarding fan support and chants. With an estimated 1.40 billion population, India has a massive fan following. Fortunately, most Indians have a strong passion for cricket. Aside from the fan support, they are also the third favourite in our 2022 T20 World Cup predictions.
The Indian batting line-up includes some of the top batters in the world, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the realm of cricket, the pair enjoys an unrivalled reputation. The other significant players in the line-up will be Lokesh Rahul and Rishabh Pant.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya should be the Team’s first-round pick.
The Indian bowling line is likewise quite experienced and of world-class quality. The onslaught will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, both economical and practical; he also takes wickets regularly, and Mohammad Shami should also be a regular starter.
A lot of quick bowlers will compete for the third-pace bowling spot. Observing who will play as the best spinner (s) will also be intriguing.
Key Players: Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Lokesh Rahul.
Which Team will get the advantage of the conditions apart from the Host?
Regarding the Australian condition, regard neighbouring country New Zealand as a favourite side. The New Zealanders are one of the most consistent teams in world cricket, and they won the ICC Test Championship and finished second in both the ICC CWC 2019 and the ICC T20 WC 2021.
They competed in the 2015 ICC CWC final and the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup semifinals. As a result, we simply couldn’t leave them out of our T20 World Cup predictions.
The Kiwis genuinely have a solid and well-balanced T20 squad. World-class batters include Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, and captain Kane Williamson. Jimmy Neesham, the Team’s first-choice all-rounder, is a versatile player who can bat and bowl.
The most devastating aspect of their team will be their bowling attack, notably the pace attack. Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, and Tim Southee form one of the most lethal fast bowling combinations. And in Australian conditions, they can be far more hazardous.
As a result, the Blackcaps deserve to be among the favourites in our T20 World Cup predictions.
Key Players: Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Colin Munro, and Jimmy Neesham.
The Most Unpredictable Side in the Tournament:
It could only be the Pakistan team. On the world stage of T20 cricket, the men in Green have a pretty strong record. They won the 2009 tournament and finished second in the inaugural edition. The subcontinental country has appeared in the semifinals on several occasions, and they were also in the semifinals of the 2021 edition in the UAE.
Despite dominating most of the game, they ran out of luck in the final four overs. However, Pakistan has a solid track record on Australian land, winning their only ICC Cricket World Cup in 1992 when Australia hosted it.
At the historic MCG, Imran Khan co-lifted their first-ever ICC CWC title. As a result, Babar Azam will be hoping to rewrite history.
Key Players: Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan.
Team to Fear:
The Caribbeans will have to compete in the first round to get to the Super 12. But when it comes to a T20 event, they cannot be kept out of the spotlight. The West Indians light up domestic T20 contests worldwide and have won the ICC T20 World Cup most times.
As a result, they deserve to be mentioned in T20 World Cup predictions. They undoubtedly have a world-class T20 squad, and the line-up includes powerful power-hitters, practical all-rounders, and a few economical spinners.
Key Players: Kieran Pollard, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, and Evin Lewis.
Side to Watch Out:
South Africa is another team to watch. Because of their major stage failures in mega-events, the Proteas have been nicknamed the Chokers.
However, there was never a shortage of flaming cannons in the tank. They will take a formidable squad to Australia. The Team boasts a strong batting line-up that includes both power hitters and innings makers. They also have several good all-around players.
Finally, the Protea bowling assault is varied and deserving of extra attention. The notable batters will be Quinton De Kock, Rassie Van der Dussen, and David Miller. While Tabrazi Shamsi and Kagiso Rabada will spearhead the spin and pace attacks.
Key Players: Quinton De Kock, Rassie Van der Dussen, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, and Tabraiz Shamsi.
India or Pakistan? Who will be the winner?
Shoaib Akhtar predicts the winner of the high-voltage clash:
India and Pakistan will face each other again in the forthcoming T20 World Cup in 2022. The high-octane encounter between the two countries will occur Sunday at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) (October 23).
Notably, when the two teams last met in October of last year, Babar Azam’s Pakistan won by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After keeping India to 151/7, skipper Babar and opening partner Mohammad Rizwan mowed the goal with more than two overs to spare, as Pakistan won by ten wickets.
Both sides are set to fight again, and former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has revealed his prediction for the blockbuster encounter. The right-arm quick noted that it’s always difficult to anticipate the outcome of the two major rivals. Still, if India can find the correct mix, they have a decent opportunity to outperform the Babar Azam-led team.
India cannot select a random team against Pakistan without defining their roles. I think the management should select the Team carefully, and I believe it will be a solid team. It won’t be a walkover for Pakistan this time around,” said Akhtar
Sportskeeda.
If India picks the right squad for the tournament, they have a good chance of beating Pakistan. They are even teams at the moment, so it is challenging to predict a result,” he stated.
Akhtar also suggested that Pakistan bat first and set a challenging goal for India to chase down in their next World Cup match at the MCG.
Furthermore, the Rawalpindi Express noted that the historic Melbourne venue is expected to be packed with more Indian supporters than Pakistan supporters.
“he wicket at the MCG plays quite well. Bowling second would be ideal for Pakistan to win the match against India. There will be a crowd of 100,000, out of which 70,000 will be supporting India so that the pressure will be on Pakistan,”
Akhtar added further.
